"When once you have tasted flight you will always walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward; for there you have been and there you will always be."

"To put your life in danger from time-to-time, breeds a saneness in dealing with day-to-day trivialities."

The contents of this website is based on real life; however, some things have been embellished and many are meant to be humorous. Under no circumstance is it intended to be derogatory to the Orangutan genus. After all the Orangutan is our closest relative and is endangered. However, the way humans are treating each other around the world and the environment, the Orangutan may well outlive the human genus.

"Orangutan Airmen" was coined one night in a bar-restaurant in Gulf Shores, Alabama. Two of my flying buddies and I had flown in the night before for a Civil Air Patrol flight clinic. Over dinner and a few beers I told them about my field expedition to Borneo, Indonesia with a group of Earthwatch volunteers. There I had spent three weeks in the rain forest following orangutans for a scientific purpose. After dinner one of my buddies said we should call our flight crew the "Orangutan Airmen".

I adopted Oranborneogutan Airman as a nom de plume because it somewhat embodies two of my hobbies, adventure and piloting small airplanes.
